Brian and Jill were hoping to have a snowy backdrop for their engagement session and they got just that! We just so happened to have their photo shoot scheduled during one of the many ‘blizzards’ that we’ve had here in Michigan this year, so although the weather was wicked cold and windy, we didn’t let that stop us from getting some really amazing shots. It’s great to have clients (and their dogs) who love the snow and being outside as much as I do!
I (finally) stayed in Grand Rapids to shoot the wedding of Sarah and Brad at Bridgewater Place. Although I really do enjoy traveling out of town for weddings, having a ten-minute drive home after the wedding ends is really nice for a change. Dj Wyatt Hollis and I teamed up for this one and had a blast – he kept the dance floor packed all night and the guests danced the night away.
If you’ve never seen Bridgewater, I would highly suggest checking it out. It’s a massive glass building right downtown and is a really great venue!
Megan, Nate and I ventured around Byron Center to capture their country side engagement photos. The mosquitos were trying to eat us alive, but we made the best out of it and I got some really neat outdoor photos thanks to the handy bottle of bug spray that I keep in my camera bag!
The wedding of Emily and Steve was held at Bay Point Inn on Gun Lake, which I have frequented many, many times! Fun fact: I grew up in Wayland, MI (near Bay Point) and I graduated with Steve and most of his groomsmen! Just before the ceremony it started to downpour, which made most of the guests travel into the ceremony under umbrellas. Before the reception, we took a short trip to the small village of Shelbyville for some bridal party photos. I captured some awesome photographs in front of the old Building that my grandparents used to own many years ago. It was called the Fontona where they would play classical music. It was great to catch up with old friends and go back to familiar places while capturing their wedding!

As a wedding photographer specializing in outdoor wedding photography, I’m often shooting weddings at vineyards – particularly up in Traverse City. In fact, the first wedding I ever photographed in Traverse City was at Ciccone vineyards, which is where the wedding of Lauren and Vasile was held, so I was very excited to be back. I don’t think we could have asked for better weather. The breeze that was flowing over the hilltops made for a perfect evening with an amazing sunset overlooking the harbor. Honestly, it’s indescribable. If you are ever looking for a place with an amazing view, check out Ciccone Vineyard – it’s definitely one of my favorites!
The wedding of Elizabeth and Scott called for another trip back up to northern Michigan (no complaints here). It was my first time to Brengman Brothers Vineyard and it was beautiful + the staff was friendly, and the wine was delicious! Although the weather wasn’t the greatest, with scattered showers throughout the day, the sun popped out just after dinner and we were able to capture some stunning photos overlooking the vineyard. Outdoor weddings in Northern Michigan are always my favorite - I had a fantastic time and can’t wait to be back!

Fall in West Michigan means apple orchards and engagement photos! For Danielle and Matt’s engagement session, we went to Schwallier’s Country Basket, which is (in my opinion) the best apple orchard around. We drove some golf-carts around and made a few stops before making it back to woods to get some really unique shots. We ended the photo session by taking some evening photos in the forest full of willow trees behind the popular restaurant Amore Trattoria Italiana, which is a phenomenal place if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine!
I took an adventure down to Southern Michigan to celebrate Marissa and Matt‘s wedding at the The MillCreek Wilde.
This couple is a HOOT! They know a lot of people who really like to have a good time and I had a lot of fun capturing all of the moments. The dance-floor was packed all night and their guests seemed to really get a kick out of the Simple Booth. This wedding was a 10/10 on the fun scale and I got a ton of really great photos! Did I mention that they had an amazing taco bar for dinner that was catered by La Perla!

I really appreciate small, intimate celebrations like the wedding of Lori and Wes. The couple got married on the beautiful, blue waters of Gull Lake at the WK Kellogg Manor house, and had spectacular weather for July.
To my surprise they ordered me a vegetarian entrée and it was AMAZING! I love how my clients know me well enough to order something special – thank you so much, Lori and Wes.

The wedding of Chelsea and Josh was at The Botanic Gardens at Historic Barns Park in Traverse City, MI, which I was super excited about because Northern Michigan is amazingly beautiful in the summer.
With that being said, it was unbelievably HOT. Like, so hot that all of the candles melted before the wedding. I’m not kidding – that actually happened! We didn’t let the heat get the best of us though. We found some shade and I was able to capture some really amazing photos of Chelsea and Josh.
It also happened to be Cherry Festival in Traverse City, which was neat because we were able see the Blue Angels fly over us. This wedding well definitely going down in the books as one to remember (and the hottest)!

It was great to be back at 12 Corners Vineyard for the wedding of Kara and Doug's. To be honest, I was a bit nervous about how this day was going to pan out because the weather app said that it was going to be a scorcher! It was definitely HOT, but the loads of sun ended up creating the most amazing sunset later in the evening, and I was able capture stunning golden hour photos in the vineyard on a couch! How cool is that?
